Process

In this 3-month project, I was a sole designer leading the whole design process which collaborated closely with Product Owner and Business Team to understand the requirements. My role included conducting research, creating user personas, mapping the user journey, and providing design solutions through prototypes.

1.   Discover - Research

I started by analysing competitors to understand the current online motor insurance market. This research helped identify trends, customer needs, and gaps that our design could address effectively.

2.   Define - Personas & Mapping

I created user personas to represent target customers. By mapping the journey, I highlighted the experiences and challenges when buying motor insurance, which helped shape the design approach.

3.   Develop: Prototyping

I am using the QBE global design system to create interactive prototypes to visualise the website design. The prototypes allow for testing ideas and features, ensuring they meet user needs and provide a smooth experience.

4.   Deliver: Design Handover & UAT

I handed over the designs to the development team. I also conducted user acceptance testing (UAT) to gather feedback and make final adjustments before launch.

Goals

  1. User-Friendly Online Experience
The online platform is designed for younger customers, offering a smooth and easy experience. We focus on reducing clicks and input fields for a simpler journey.

  2. Fast and Instant Approval
Fully automated platform allows customers to sign up for a policy in under 5 minutes, with instant access to their policy documents.

  3. Expand Market Reach
Expanding the market reach to enhance customer acquisition channels, and improving brand visibility drives long-term growth.

Background

Since 2022, QBE Hong Kong has been building a direct channel for customers to buy insurance online. They have launched various general insurance products, including Home and Travel.

As the market for electric vehicles (EVs) grows quickly, QBE recognises the need for insurance solutions designed to this group. This project aims to launch a new D2C motor insurance online website that meets the customer and market needs. It will also simplify the insurance buying process, guiding customers through easy steps to help them find the right coverage quickly.
